MICROSOFT EXCEL (theory)

This is a window application program or software that provides the user with a powerful spreadsheet features. This enables the user to make calculations and hence display the result in a chart form.

Excel can also be seen as a spreadsheet package used to record series of accounting, arithmetic, payroll,

statistics, budget consolidation, bank statement.

  Other examples of spreadsheet application packages are;

Ms excel, lotus 1,2,3, supercal, Quattro, peach tree

DEFINITION OF SOME TERMS USED IN MICROSOFT EXCEL

CELL; This is the intersection of the columns and rows.

WORKBOOK; A workbook is otherwise known as an excel file and it contains three sheets by default.

WORK SHEET; The formation of multiple cells is called the work sheet

CURRENT CELL; This is the selected cell on the worksheet

COLUMNS; This are the vertical lines that runs from the top to down. there are 256 columns in excel(lettered A-Z, AA-AZ,BA-BZ,CA-CZ)

 ROWS; This are the horizontal lines that runs from left to right. There are 6.5,536 rows in excel

               FUNCTIONS /USES OF MS EXCEL   

1.    It is used for making result sheet

2.    It is used for statistics

3.    It  is used for making payrolls

4.    It is used for solving equations in mathematics

5.    It is also used in the consolidation of federal accounting
