In this article, you are required to successfully meet our minimum requirements and pass all recruitment gateways and be competitive to be offered a place on a training program. Applicants will be invited to progress through recruitment gateways on the basis of an ongoing competitive process. Passing a gateway does not guarantee an invite to subsequent gateways.

To help you prepare, here are some hints and tips

1. Start preparing early, particularly to pass the fitness testing. While you will need to meet the standards of the Entry level Physical Competency Assessment to gain selection, you will be expected to meet the standards of a Physical Competency Assessment whilst at the College.
2. Practice for the aptitude and psychometric testing. You can do this by undertaking some example tests on the Revelian website.
3. Ensure that you are well rested and avoid alcohol before undertaking any of the gateways.
4. At the assessment centre it’s important to respond to the questions and scenarios as honestly as possible, to enable us the best opportunity to assess how you’d react in different situations.
5. During timed tests, try to not spend too much time on any one question. If there is time remaining, you will be able to review the questions.
6. Make sure you read about all the gateways to ensure you’re prepared for the recruitment selection process and training program.
7. Applicants will be presented with specific, realistic scenarios and behavioural questions to respond to in the interview.
8. Preparation is essential. As with any job interview, applicants are encouraged to understand the role they are applying for and that of the broader AFP in Australia and internationally.
